Delicacies of Saimaa

I love food and this summer I decided to try some delicacies of Lake Saimaa. 

I began my tour from the Roof Terrace of Savonlinnan Seurahuone, because it's famous for its local speciality called "Muikku". You can eat these small white fishes as a whole fish and you won't even notice the bones. The potato with a tasty cream and especially the views over the town of Savonlinna and Lake Saimaa completes this tasty experience!

My next coal was tasting of local beer at the local brewery. Brewery Restaurant Huvila provides their own beer, but also special wines (imported by themselves) and a really good food! My favourite is the "Sweet Completion - Huvila Porter Chocolate Cake" with a dark sweet beer :) And I'm not the only one who likes it, because it have been on their á la Carte list since they opened the restaurant 10 years ago!

When we are on Lake Saimaa, it's of course possible to have a lunch also in the nature! In Linnansaari National Park, you can make your meals by yourself on a camp fire or if you have a small group, you can order a nice meal from SaimaaHoliday company. I had a chance to be "served" and get a nice lunch with my friends :)

From Linnansaari I continued to Holiday Resort Järvisydän, which have a big wine cellar and a mediaval style restaurant. If you like fish, this is also a good place to try local lake fish, as they use always the fish from the local fishermen and even their own fishing guides. They also have nice variety of game dishes. 

In Järvisydän you can have a buffet or á la carte.

Breakfast

The last destination for so far, was in Anttola, Hotel Anttolanhovi, where they have every summer the fonderful Grill Evenings of famous Finnish chef de cuisine Markus Maulavirta. I have never ever eaten so good chicken, that i had for starters - it just melted in my mouth! The main course was really good as well, but for me way too big :) and a dessert blueberries were biked up right before serving.. Cool :)
